Social Distancing Art Festival - SODA

EN

This website is especially designed to show a variety of artworks that were made during the times of the Covid-19 crisis. Artists from over 20 countries participated in our open call and are represented here. We are aware that the movement of social distancing art is still in its infancy. At the same time we present the selected works of art as documentation, of the present „unimagined“ time. Without a doubt, the contributions will last for weeks, months and years and gain relevance as a historical statement.

For us, as curators of the SODA-Festival it is important to set an example in times of the worldwide pandemic crisis and general curfew and to help promote the creativity of those who sit at home and do not know what to do with themselves and their creativity. We are currently facing involuntary quarantine and isolation. From one day to the next, you can no longer live as you have always been used to.

What does it do to humans? What happens to public space without the usual dynamic? How does it effect our cultural behavior? How does this dynamic shift into private, at home? How does it change interpersonal relationships when social distancing becomes everyday life? Do we currently live in long- distance relationships? Is the journey going inwards? What happened to the dream of freedom during the Covid-19 shutdown phasis?

We hope you can find answers while roaming around our website.

Only a globally alligned, science based approach will lead to a sustainable success in containing this highly contagious virus. May this strange, scary and sad time will end soon. Respect and Solidarity!

After the corona crisis, we would like to organize the SODA festival in real walk-in rooms. We are looking for cooperation partners who believe in our exhibition concept and who want to work out the uniqueness of the SODA Festival together with us. Art and culture institutions are welcome to join us to design the exhibition. In addition, we rely on financial support from active sponsors. If you recognize the importance of art and culture in Corona times as much as we do, then please contact us. Write an email to: arrivalroom@gmail.com
